The GOP has successfully painted itself into the proverbial corner, with the help of the Democrats of course.
With the popularity of Herman Cain rising within the GOP Democrats claim that the only reason the conservatives support him is so that they don't appear to be bigots. Of course if the GOP does not nominate Herman Cain the Democrats will claim it is because the GOP is racist and would never really support a black man for president.
So there you have it. The GOP is squatting in the corner with paint brush in hand with no place to go. And by the time the paint dries and it is safe for them to walk around that room, they will discover that the room they painted and now occupy is not located in the White House.
